Date for signing confirmed

Confirmation was received today that our voting results from the ratification stage of our Treaty Settlement process, have been approved by the Minister of Treaty Negotiations, Hon Andrew Little, and Minister of Māori Development, Hon Nanaia Mahuta.

As a result, initial members of the newly established post-settlement governance entity, Te Puāwaitanga o Ngāti Hinerangi Trust, will sign the Treaty of Waitangi settlement on our behalf next weekend.

The ceremony will be held at Te Ohaki Marae in Okauia on Saturday, 4 May. Formalities will begin with an official pōwhiri at 9am.

Whānau are welcome to attend.

    What belonged to the people by ancestral domains are honored by the government, but there are limit to it, specially when a certain place is already on the hands of the government (not all the time). Though this claims are historical, and the properties are being proved with evident documents I am pretty sure that the treaty will be approved with strong credentials. Cheers!
